In the mid-1900’s the industrial ports of Amager held one of the major shipyards in Denmark, making the area an important part of the country’s maritime history. Today, Amager and Christianshavn are hip and trendy neighbourhoods, as the area has been gracefully developed with modern buildings. Go see the Freetown of Christiania, have a swim in Islands Brygge or go to the beach at Amager Strandpark.
